Working remotely allows a professional to work outside a traditional work environment. This was once referred to as telecommuting and has been around for the past few decades. Most people tend to accomplish more work when they choose their own environment. Working remotely has become more popular this past Spring due to the quarantine.
There are many benefits to working remotely for workers. Of course, these benefits are contingent on the remote worker. Improvements in technology has enabled work from home to run much smoother. These are just a few benefits when working remotely.

- Increased motivation
- Cost savings
- Healthier
- Security
There are also several benefits for employers. They have a wider selection of the employee pool for one due to the fact of family commitments. Work and Life balance is easier to manage. There are other benefits in allowing your workers to engage in remote work.
- Employee retention and engagement
- Reduced turnover
- Higher employee satisfaction
- Increased productivity
- Lower costs
- Pandemic productivity
Personally, I prefer to work remotely. My productivity is increased due to my healthier lifestyle I can incorporate into my schedule when I control it. I eat healthier. I go for a walk daily. I have a separate office in my house that I can expense every year in my taxes. I also expense other business items. I save in transportation costs. Another benefit is having easy access to my reference library. I don’t think I could ever work in-office ever again. When I do travel for meetings, I can expense them. Working remotely is a win-win for both employer and employee.
